About the Artwork
The original was created with acrylic paint and varnish on an up-cycled canvas, 158 x 69.5cm.
La Loba ~ The Bone Woman.
Clarissa Pinkola Estés, in her renowned "Women Who Run With the Wolves", tells us that the Wolf Woman, La Loba, “lives in a hidden place that everyone knows in their souls but few have ever seen”.
Her “sole work” is “the collecting of bones”, of which wolves are her specialty. And so, through the mountains, “she creeps and crawls and sifts” as she “collects and preserves especially that which is in danger of being lost in the world”.
Once “the beautiful white sculpture” is complete, “she sits by the fire and thinks about what song she will sing.
